A Dream in the Fall of Life

I reached out and touched you
Felt the coolness of your face.
Ran my finger down your cheek.
Traced the lip line of your lips,
And felt your strong embrace.

The fears of all the years did vanish
In your arms I melted from the start.
My head did touch your shoulder
And time stood still for me,
As I felt the beating of your heart.

It was sweet and oh so swift
All to soon the moment ended.
Morning broke through
And I awoke and knew,
A dream had just been mended.

I know I'll never touch you
The time for that has passed.
I'll never see you smile at me
You are a just a loving memory
As we enter into fall at last
