The following poem was written in 1963 but would not be published until 1991
when I was honored a the Golden Poet for that year.
I use to sing it to my children and today they all remember it.
The words have never left my soul.

I WANT

By: Lana Hollenback

I want to walk where no one's walked
and play in valleys green

I want to climb high mountains
and swim in clean streams

I want to drink from the fountain
that never runs dry

I want to lay in your arms
and never ask why?

I can't find a place where no one has walked
and the valleys are no longer green

The mountain's to high
the streams are not clean

And the fountains already
run dry

I'll lay in your arms
But I just have to ask why
